Satya Rodrigo is a photography enthusiast, starting film photography in High School and later briefly studying film and cinema in College. He has been a user of various film cameras ranging from 35mm rangefinders, Single Lens Reflex cameras to 120mm Medium Format 6 x 6 cameras. He now favours digital rangefinder and Medium Format cameras.
His interest is in street photography, portraiture, urban landscape and documentary photography and is particularly passionate about Black and White Photography.
Recent awards are a FIAP Gold Medal at the PhotoExpo 2022 in Serbia, GPU Chairs Choice Gold Medal at the New York Photo Fair 2022, Jury Choice Medal at the Zeus 2022 Photo Salon in India and several diplomas and ribbons at various international photographic exhibitions and salons. Some of his photographs have been selected to be featured in the Leica Fotographie International (LFI) Gallery.
He is a member of the Photographic Society of Sri Lanka (PSSL), the Photographic Society of America (PSA) and the Global Photographic Union (GPU).
He is a member of the Sri Lanka Foreign Service since 1998.
