Gu Ying, a retiree, began to learn photography after she retired, in the practice of various photographic creations in recent years. She has captured a variety of touching and wonderful moments from ordinary life through the lens, frozen the beauty in pictures, recorded the characteristics of age and quietly conveyed the power and emotions through photographs.
Her achievements in photography are as follows:
- Outstanding student of provincial membership improvement course at Beijing Photography Correspondence Institute and top 10 photographers of the year 2023 by the academy of selected photography.
- The work called “Personal Portfolio” was published in the online exhibition on the official website of Beijing Photography Correspondence Institute and CPA Imaging China.
- The portfolio “Country Life” was exhibited in the exhibition “Back Garden of Capital City, Natural Oxygen Bar – The Great Wall and Leisure Capital”.
- The work “Busy” was exhibited in the first National Images Collection of Selected Photography on the theme of “Agricultural Power”.
- The works “Fancy Diving” and “Rice Scenting Ning River” were exhibited in the 21st Tianjin Photography Art Exhibition and won high honours.
- Portfolio “Nimu Tsobi” was selected as a finalist of the Fifth China Ethnic Image Photography Biennale in 2024 and was permanently collected by the China Ethnic Museum.
- “Impression of Liangshan” portfolio participated in the Phoenix Folklore Biennale; “Scene of Small Town Life” portfolio and 5 individual works participated in the “Xinjiang is a good place” theme exhibition.
- “Warm Dumplings” won the gold medal in the “Beautiful Hexi” photo exhibition in Tianjin.
- Published 2 articles and 4 pictures in China Photography Newspaper.
- Published 120 works in various public media such as “Black and White Photography”.
