BEYOND THE CURTAIN

The Circus is the dreamy show for excellence, with rarefied and magical atmospheres,  a continuous contamination between actions and words, between dream and reality. Beyond everything  that appears to us there are them, men, animals and their lives. Through my photos, which I made over a year by going in their caravans, attending the shows under their awnings and above all observing them fron behind the scenes, walking among the caravan houses outside the limelight, in different places in Tuscany and Umbria, you have a different vision and concept of their existence. A picture emerges that describes people proud of their art, families who pass down the secrets of the trade from generation to generation, people who have respect for others and for the animals that live with them. It was an incredible journey that brought out a variegated world, made up of sacrifices, stubborness, trials and trials of the same number, impossible challenges, fatigue, commitment, pain, joy and sweat.

LUCIANA PETTI

Born in Siena, she approaches photography after years of graphic collaboration with famous photographers, with the desire to try to tell through her “images of her” herself and the world in which she moves. Her first project is the 2011 portfolio “16-Abitanti di Murlo”.

Since that day many prizes have arrived in national and foreign competitions and important victories in reviews of Portfolio Readings; she in Rosignano in 2013 with “Padiglione Conolly” and in 2014 with “Crisalidi”, also in 2013 in Sestri Levante she won the stage and was Finalist Portfolio Italia with the project “Graffi”.

In 2015 Honorable Mention with “Petti’s Circus” in Sasso Ferrato and Trieste, in 2016 the work “Suor Ginetta & Friends” was selected for the national exhibition “Many for All” on Volunteering and was later published on CREDERE, the official magazine of the Jubilee.

In 2016 she was elected Photographer of the Year 2016-Tuscany with the “Petti’s Circus” project.

In 2018 his project “Words are not butterflies” against violence against women was on display at the Teatro dei Rinnovati in Siena in collaboration with the MOTUS dance company, while the “Sintassi Familiare” project was selected and used as a manifesto of the national FIAF exhibition “The family in Italy”.

In 2019 at the Fiaf National Congress in Naples, during the first stage of the Italian Portfolio Circuit you received the AFI honor, Italian Photographic Artist and obtained an honorable mention with your project “Withdraw”.

In 2020, together with the photographer and publisher Luca Betti, he created the photographic reportage “Toscana Lockdown”, which documents the void in the Tuscan cities at the time of the first closure for Covid, from which the book “Toscana Lockdown, however beautiful” was created; the project was on show at Palazzo Pegaso, headquarters of the Tuscany Region in Florence.

Also in 2020, his second photographic book “A thousand times Gigi” was published, in collaboration with his photographer friend Mauro Agnesoni, which tells about a famous Sienese jockey, Luigi Bruschelli, through the reportage of his private life over a year. solar.

In 2021, her project “The Assassin House-Covid Lockdown” is on display at the CIFA Italian Center of Author Photography, Museum of Modern Art, in Bibbiena and included in the volume Cronache Quarantine.

In 2022 the “Sfera” project is on display at the CIFA Italian Center of Author Photography, Museum of Modern Art, in Bibbiena and included in the volume of the National Environment, Climate, Future Project.

Also in 2022 in September at the 13th Portfolio in Rocca in San Felice sul Panaro his photographic project “BEYOND THE CURTAIN” was awarded the Honorable Mention.
