Description of the series:
The White Elves
When shifted from a two-dimensional frame to a four-dimensional space, the abstract image becomes comprehensible: “white neck, frosty hair and red palm” shows the attitude of the swan; “Singing in the tranquil lake” shows the elegance of swans; “Sleeping in white sand and clouds” is the freedom of swans. This photo series is worth to ponder and sense with heart, as it is about dialectical relationship of “inside and outside”, “unity and separation” and “segmentation and combination”.
From Mr. Li Taichang’s images, we can see the passionate love he bears for the elf like swan. His images are not only a simple documentary, but come from the most authentic expression of his mind after thorough consideration. He projected the individual spirit and “inner” emotion into time and space, resulting in a unique imagination. Through deconstruction and reconstruction, he created images with rhythms and flow, interpreting the classic quotations of “art originates from life and is higher than life”.
As Harry Vinogrand famously said, “Photography is not about the thing photographed. It is about how that thing looks photographed “.
Years of experience made him well aware of the habits of swans in Sanmenxia; Years of persistence allows him to understand the influence of weather, geese, light during shooting; After years of exploration, he is able to capture beauty of swans at given moment. As Li Taichang said, my original intention is to promote the love of nature, protect wild animals and the ecological environment of our earth through this group of photos. Mr. Li Taichang also believes in what’s on the website about the bird that the power of photography can help to raise the awareness of the public to wildlife.
