Yang He is a member of the China Photographers Association, Global Photographic Union, the China Prose Society, and was the first and second chairman of the Zhongjiang County Photographers Association.
He has attained certain achievement in photography, literature and music composition.
He has published poetry, fiction, essays, reportage and photography works in People’s Literature, People’s Daily, China Youth Daily, Popular Photography, Photo World and China Reportage Magazine.
- “Villagers’ Homecoming Banquet” was selected in the 25th National Photographic Art Exhibition and won the honorable mention.
- “The Dreams of Small Vendors” (group photo) received honorable mention in the 15th China International Photography Art Festival; it was selected for the 12th Shanghai International Photography Art Exhibition.
- “People’s Life” was selected for the first GPU Virtual Photography Festival;
- “Ling Yun” and “Eager to Return” were selected in the GPU Photo Book 2021;
About the photo series
Dream of the Small Vendors
This photo series was taken in the afternoon of August 28 and 29, 2013 in Lishui, Zhejiang Province at a farmers’ market. It was the height of the summer, the temperature was as high as 38 degrees. When we are lying in the air-conditioned room comfortablely taking a nap, vendors in the market can only take a nap while attending the business. With limited capital, they make little profits, yet the vendors work from early morning to late afternoon, sending the necessities of life for the people of the city, to improve and enrich people’s lives. But who knows about their bitter and sweet? In their dreams, there are sorrows, and there should be sweetness too, right?
The Dream of Small Vendors” (group photo) was exhibited at the 15th International Photography Festival in Lishui, Zhejiang Province, China in November 2013, and received the Excellent Work Award by the China Photographers Association, and selected for the 12th Shanghai International Photography Art Exhibition in October 2014.
